This medium platter depicts a Chesapeake Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus). It is primarily found on the Atlantic Coast of North and South America, however they have expanded their habitat to other areas of the globe, such as the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas, where they are considered invaders. The platter is handmade with Australian porcelain and hand painted with watercolour-like underglazes. As with all handmade objects, it may have some irregularities which contribute to its unique nature. It is fully functional and can we washed in the dishwasher, though I would recommend not putting in the microwave or oven as the abrupt changes in temperature might crack the clay.
The platter measures 28cm long, 19cm wide and about 2cm high and comes in its own recycled cardboard gift box. You will be sent a platter chosen at random from the two available.
