This very long platter depicts a Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus). It is a superbly camouflaged fish, related to the seahorse, and occurs in kelp-covered rocky reefs. It is endemic to the Great Southern Reef.

The platter is handmade with Australian porcelain and hand painted with watercolour-like underglazes. As with all handmade objects, it may have some irregularities which contribute to its unique nature. It is fully functional and can we washed in the dishwasher, though I would recommend not putting in the microwave or oven as the abrupt changes in temperature might crack the clay.

The platter measures 54cm long, 25cm wide and about 2cm high. Given its large size, picking up directly from the studio is highly recommended if you are local to Sydney. This is a listing for the product in the picture.

By purchasing this item, we will contribute to Regenerate Australia’s carbon sequestration projects by planting on native tree or shrub in Australia.

If you are local to Sydney, we strongly encourage you to collet the piece from our studio. Just use the code INNERWEST at checkout to void the standard shipping costs and we can natter the details over email.
