Tropical Rock Lobster -- Very Large Platter
This very large platter depicts a Tropical Rock Lobster (Panulirus ornatus). The species is common across the whole Indo-Pacific, including the Red Sea. Today, thanks to the Suez Canal, it is also a Lessepsian migrant found in the Mediterranean.
The platter is handmade with Australian porcelain and hand painted with watercolour-like underglazes. As with all handmade objects, it may have some irregularities which contribute to its unique nature. It is fully functional and can we washed in the dishwasher, though I would recommend not putting in the microwave or oven as the abrupt changes in temperature might crack the clay.
The platter measures 54cm long, 35cm wide and about 2cm high. Given its large size, picking up directly from the studio is highly recommended if you are local to Sydney. This is a listing for the product in the picture.
By purchasing this item, we will contribute to Regenerate Australia’s carbon sequestration projects by planting on native tree or shrub in Australia.
