Underwater Sydney
Maunsell Wickes Gallery, Paddington, Sydney
14 - 29 August, 2021

Araceli’s first solo show in Australia focused on the rich biodiversity found in Sydney’s waters. Fish, crustaceans and seaweed species were depicted on a series of handbuilt porcelain platters. The pieces were fully functional, perfect as serveware but also as works of art on the wall.

As the climate changes and more habitat is lost, Araceli hoped this exhibition elicited wonder and curiosity, so we may be more inclined to value and preserve the underwater Sydney treasures we have.

Underwater Sydney
A short colouring book celebrating our city’s rich marine biodiversity

Araceli has put together a colouring book in the hopes it might spark curiosity in our children and teach them a few interesting facts about the creatures that live in underwater Sydney! There are 12 species waiting to be coloured in, with descriptions that have been fact checked by a marine biologist. The book is free to download, but if you feel you would like to give something in exchange, please consider donating the cost of planting a tree in Australia ($4) through Carbon Positive Australia.
