Christmas Island Red Crab - Medium Platter

Christmas Island Red Crab - Medium Platter

$195.00

This medium platter depicts a Christmas Island Red Crab (Gecarcoidea natalis). It is found only on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean and its annual migration is one of the most incredible natural processes on Earth. To see Sir Richard Attenborough explain the Red Crab migration on site, with crabs crawling up his legs and still being incredibly professional, click here. The platter is handmade with Australian porcelain and hand painted with watercolour-like underglazes. As with all handmade objects, it may have some irregularities which contribute to its unique nature. It is fully functional and can we washed in the dishwasher, though I would recommend not putting in the microwave or oven as the abrupt changes in temperature might crack the clay.

The platter measures 28cm long, 19cm wide and about 2cm high and comes in its own recycled cardboard gift box. This is a listing for the product in the picture.
